hi world!

sorry i've been a little MIA on the interwebz. hopefully this journal recap will get you up to speed.

• my birthday happened! WOOO! my birthday is an official super holiday in my world and i definitely did it justice this year. friday was a little party at AK. (oof that place….) and saturday was a small get together at my apt for random friends. epic wii matches, scategories, cupcakes and beer happened. the end.

• paramore release riot!. OOF. i have to say, i'm officially under whelmed by this album. i'm a HUGE pop punk fanatic, but this just isn't doing it for me. i got stoked out about 4 songs ("misery business" is PEFECT) on the album, and then i found myself really wanted to skip through the rest. mildly bummed out…

• also mildly bummed on the new cartel single, "lose it", (sorry cb) as well. it just doesn't sound BIG enough for me. (i'm actually having this problem a lot with music now) it's catchy, but not catchy enough…..

• and as for music that i am not bummed out on, motion city soundtrack’s "broken heart". ADORS. as of today you can download the digital single from itunes and peep the cutest video here. it’s a great track to hold you over til the album comes out in september…

• i'm stoked on dickies again. black skinny jeans are too effing hot for summer. old man pants and tank tops are whats up now. this means i'm pretty much resorting back to what i wore junior and senior year of high school. SPEAKING OF..i had this AMAZING pair of green dickies that i wore on the first day of my senior year and i totally wish i still had.....

• i've had to wear my glasses everyday for the past week. UNSTOKED. i used to wear my contact all day and night, but it's starting to mess up my eye and now i need to fix them. lasik surgery please? i feel like the biggest nerdburger on the planet in these things….

• lauren came to visit me TWICE this weekend. SO amazing. she gave me the best birthday "card" ever, aka a hand written note on crumpled computer paper. it totally made me tear up a little bit. I love that girl SO hard...totally little sister status for life...

• i'm getting to do more dj-ing which completely makes my life. i'm SO excited to get good better at it and play redonks jams for my friends to dance to.

• speaking of dj-ing: trainwreck tuesday at AK is legit the best new party in NYC. not even joking about this. june 3rd is armor for ben's birthday party…get there. it's going to be epic. also stay tuned for the flier i'm making for it. it will make you laugh forever. i promise.....

i'm totally stoked to start taking fun nightlife pictures with this bad boy. digital pics are getting so boring. (right?!?!?!) i took a few shots last night at AK and will do so again on tuesday i think. i want to get a collection of portaits of all favorite faces...

 john recently asked which bands we'd like to see reunite. i love making lists, but as much as i've tried there's really only one band i wish (almost on a daily basis) would make a comeback…

MIDTOWN!

ok so no shocker here. i do lurve me some midtown!  i'm not even going to entertain the idea of ever getting another record, but one reunion show isn't too much to ask is it? each member is currently working on other projects, (rob hitt is running isurrender records. gabe saporata is doing his best JT impression with cobra starship. tyler rann is playing guitar in his new project, band of thieves and heath can be seen playing with senses fail.) so the likely hood of this happening in the near future is grim. fall out boy (no your not getting an FOB link) recently covered "just rock and roll" from save the girl, lose the world, at the new jersey and chicago dates of the honda civic tour, which is just enough to keep reunion hope alive on absolutepunk. (seriously, have you even noticed large number of midtown fans on that site?) and yes that was conveniently one day AFTER i attended the HCT, but no, I'm not bitter…..

if you've never heard midtown, please gift wrap a present to your ears with 3 albums of  pop-punk goodness. save the world, lose the girl / living well is the best revenge / forget what you know.

and now for my current crushes......

i picked up "how sassy changed my life: a love letter to the greatest teen magazine of all time" and it's so perfect. even if you never read sassy when it was still in print, this book is worth a read. it chronicles the magazines short, but influential life and exposes it impact on a generation of girls. pretty cool stuff. it's the kind of book that will make you feel great about being a woman and i felt 3 times hipper and more badass just reading it. i swear.

question: did anyone else out there read sassy when they were younger?

i also picked up the new issue of NYLON last week. HOLY WHOA! it's my favorite time of year! this is NYLON's annual "music issue" which last year almost became the "myspace issue". it's increds. sometimes that mag can fill up quickly with hipster fluff (one of my few criticisms) but this issue always packs a punch. they really turned up the volume on content AND design for this one. each story of interest comes complete with a cute yellow box that directs you to the subjects' myspace page. GENIUS!

my birthday is coming up quickly: june 22nd at everyone's favorite fakey dive bar, angels & kings. be there. adorable, awesome, amazing promo flier coming soon.

new paramore album, RIOT!, comes out today. i think it leaked, or was streamed or something, but i'm not listening and going to BUY IT tomorrow. as you should as well. seriously, quit stealing albums, it's fucking lame. spend more time trying to find bands that matter and support them with your precious $9.99.....seriously.

 today is your last chance to lurk cartel as they're coming out of the bubble tonight with a finished album. (phew, i'm sure everyone was on the edge of their seat with suspense….) their first single, "lose it" is also now on itunes....so peep that, and get stoked for the album release on july 24th

being bored, tired and sick at work is probably the worst combination ever. my head feels like its underwater, and desperately want to be vegging out on the couch. i’ve been trying to read a decent journal entry on various topics, for the past 3 days but everything is coming out very disjointed and i won’t subject my faithful buzznet readers to such nonsense. (FALSE: i am the queen on nonsense buzznet journals) so instead you're getting this lame recap.....

tuesday i went to the honda civic tour with and it t'was ton’s o’ fun.....

i’m sure you’ve all read about the show somewhere else by now, so i won’t bore you with the swoon fest but i do lurve me a good FOB show. after an ADVENTUROUS trip back from LI we (me, jesse and diaz) finally made it to AK for Pete’s birthday party. it was a pretty typical night at AK, only with a lot more attention on two people in the room and way more camera’s. OOF. danced a bit, did some whiskey shots, stole borrowed some expensive booze, and ordered various forms of fried cheese on the cab ride back to BK. ( cheese is always a great way to end a great night.)

that's to gawker and google reader i now know that rhode island actually borders new york.

you know what's kinda super sad: it would probally take me just as long to get from block island to jones beach for the HCT tonight as it's going to take from BK.......half kidding.
