so in case you didn’t hear (wait, how would you?) today/last night was this girl’s birthday.

 

Naturally I came up with the best birthday gift ever: a live performance by young love at night, aka the first moments of her birthday. ok, so maybe the performance was already scheduled and I just arranged the invite…WHATEVS! I’m still taking credit for a great birthday surprise.

 

that shit was a photobloggers wet dream. at one point my view of dan was actually blocked by 4 cameras. I wish I was kidding about this….

 

I kinda fell in LURVE with the YL wallpaper. how can I get this for our apartment? someone hook this up.

 

 

 

we rolled to black and white after. aka: my fav party in NYC. rob hitt always takes good care of us on the dance floor…which may or may not included redonks requests from this girl. (“can you play outfield’s your love?…um AND NOT YOUR VERSION!!”..class act Erica, class act.)

 

this week is fully nutty. get up, go to work, go home, eat, work on tshirts, sleep, work, repeat. i need SPRIIIING BREEEAAAAAK!!!

 

BIG PS! yesterday evening we were hanging around the house waiting for  VMARS to start and threw FUSE on for some background noise. (ohsnap they actually play music videos!) and what do we hear about 20 minutes into steve's untitled rock show?……..

*young love album in your online stores today! (it's in real stores too, but who goes there..seriously) i've been waiting over a year for the official release of this album..it's starting to hurt me a little inside.....also i'm stoked for the rest of the world to hear discotech and start running it into the ground....

after reading this article in Wired magazine, you might actually believe that MTV has a handle on "virtual life". now if only they would play videos on tv and create a website that didn't make me want to stick sporks in my eyes......

last night's stolen transmission benefit was AMAZING. bigups to sarah and the whole st crew for putting together such a fun event for a great cause. the annex had a great vibe, and it was nice to be at a show where i didn't feel like the underlying theme was self-promotion of some kind. obvs, it was a great showcase of their line-up, but it really felt more like a "friends playing for friends" party and not a "concert".

we got to chilldown with the monty are i dudes (+superniceguy). FINALLY! most of the time we see them now it's with many more friends and fans, so it's usually hard to get in some good ol' face time. when you have friends who are on tour it's just nice to be able to grab a slice of pizza and laugh at stupid drunken conversations. (and make fun of justin for his hair style of moment)

their performance ROCKED. OF COURSE! (again i don't know why i say these things half the time because i really dont think anyone other people read this besides my dorkball friends..but....whatevs) if anyone out there has never seen a monty are i live show you are TRUELY missing out.....they're going on a quick 3 week tour with Over It, so go say HI if they're coming near you.

 

also: i can't say enough about THE PHOTO ATLAS!!

i got to see them twice during CMJ and their album has been on heavy ipod rotation ever since. their tunes are hand clapping, shoulder shakin' good. i promise it'll get your feet moving. (also, an amazing live show! to see them in your city!) peep this video shot by the Andy Samberg look-a-like: Steve Penta.

and last but not least. i silkscreened some fun posters for the show. i wanted to do SOMETHING to help. and since i don't play in a cool band, i figured this was the next best thing. i do all my posters and t-shirts by hand, which is totally way more work than it needs to be, but i really love the results. i like that i can make something look really good but only use primitive techniques.

word to FOB. uncle doug came through in the clutch and hooked jessica and i up with tickets to the hard rock show on monday night. HOLLA! neither of us were working that day so we took the opportunity to “pop bottles”. srsly, we bought cheap champagne and thought it would be a good idea to drink 3 of them before going to the show. uhh yeaaaah, lets just end most of the story telling here and just say that we had a fucking GREAT time……..gurj showed up (KINDA LOVE YOU GURRRRJ!) and we flipped out and swooned like the teenage emo pop punk lovin nerds that we are….but that’s to be expected.

tuesday was the FOE tour at hammerstein. shit kid, i fucking love that band. that’s all i can really say. i love going to shows and flipping out and BAM! FOB is the best for that in my mind. i didn’t take a single picture, so don’t get too excited….but honestly, if you’re reading this, you were prolly there with me anyway so never mind. also: somewhere in this 48 hours of madness i developed a retarded cold and basically retreated back to my apt after the show to sleep. doug was again kind enough to list me and jessica for the after party at marquee where pete was supposed to be djing, but i could barely keep my eyes open after 12pm.  i like going to marquee because there is a 80% chance something will happen there that i will then read about in us weekly next week….however as gurj perfectly stated after her in and out experience last night.. it’s “douchefest 07” in there always…and that’s a bumout freals.

did i mention somewhere that i freaking LOVE that band?……because i kinda do. the intro to grand theft autumn gives me chills every time i hear it live…

other random stuff:

• DUDES! young love’s track “find a new way” is the theme song to MTV’s new reality show dancelife…..JUSTSAYIN! young love album drrrrrops jan 30th. BUY IT!
• stolen transmission is hosting a benefit show for little monkeys and bella’s puppies and kittens on monday night at the annex. all the st bands are playing (minus the horrors) the oohlas, permanent me, bright light fever, the photo atlas and MONTY ARE I! HOLLLLAAA! it’s $10 but if i’ve been nagging you check out a MONTY show here’s a perfect opportunity. there’s going to be a raffle, and djing/dance party by the misshapes, and TONS O’ ANAIMAL LURVVIN…..so get thurrr. i’ll be the girl with the rhode island flag wrap around her shoulders singing “anchor and hope” like it’s my job…..also: i’m silkscreening some really cute posters for it so STAY TUNED…
• i ordered a sweet leopard print cover for my sidekick. get jelz.
• bigups to lauren for being my bestie. i can’t wait till she’s 21, so i can take her with me everywhere. not even to drink, just to get in the door and have her lurk people with me....

to be honest, i'm not too stoked on that bands music, but i'm kind of OBSESSED with their "look"....style, kiddies, not "omgtheyaresohot".....anyway, the shots look killer, and i wanna blow (enlarge, christy) a couple of them (the photos, christy) up really big on a photocopier and make some sweet low res wall hangings......

anyone else out there done that before? you should.....it looks really cool, and it's hella cheap....i promise...
